i wonder how did they come up with kidney embryos and beef serum and whatever the hell concoction to grow a virus in??? the more i learn, the more everything seems to be based on personalities, and who's pushiest, not on who's actually right; i've seen this is in my own professional life. if people extrapolated their everyday experiences with other average people to experts in fields supposedly dominated by "certainty" like virology is, they would learn "one cool trick"
to seeing through bullshit, but thinking stops at the presentation of credentials.
herpes virus intrigues me though. i never had a cold sore in my life and then started getting them after kissing my boyfriend who definitely had them. i can count on one hand the number of times i've had outbreaks since then though, and haven't had one for decades, but i get the itchy feeling under my lip that usually accompanies them quite often. i apply mint lip balm or lemon balm oil and i don't get anything. one time in the beginning one was forming on my lip on my way to work and i applied a lemon balm cream from germany ( which is not available anymore in this country, i have not been able to find it) and it disappeared by the time i parked my car. i lived in terror that i would pass this on to subsequent boyfriends so i avoided oral sex, but then i resumed this with current boyfriend and he never got anything from me. what is herpes????
